Workflows and Tools
TeselaGen assists you in automating processes with iterative steps to update your Lab Inventory Management System automatically with the input reagents or materials used and by adding the outputs of those reactions on existing samples or even creating new plates or tubes with your new output materials. This is carried out through workflow definitions, where you describe the steps followed in your protocol as a series of tasks to accomplish, which we call Tools. You can find all tools under the Tool library in the left side panel.
Move Plates Tool
The Move Plate tool helps you move plates and tubes from your inventory to a specific location. Although you can do it directly on a plate/tube information, this tool allows us to move several items at the same time, and incorporate this step to a workflow (for example, moving plates to a specific freezer after carrying out an experiment). When launching the tool, we first need to indicate if we want to move plates and racks or tubes and then selecting them.
☝️ Can I move plates and tubes at the same time?
You can't move both at the same time. You can run as much items as you want (if they are from the same type), but you need to launch the tool again if you want to move tubes after moving plates.
After selecting the plate(s) we want to move, a pop-up window will appear, where we have to indicate where/how we want to place our plates.
Here, we can either place them manually or select a placement strategy. On this case we will manually select where to put them.
Here, the window will show a list of all of the pieces of equipment in our inventory.
🚨NOTE: When placing manually you can override or ignore any capacity settings that have been applied to the equipment as well as any constraint regarding the type of container that can be placed.
After selecting a piece of equipment we will see its current layout of containers. All plates must be placed in the same piece of equipment when placing manually.
☝️ Can I assign plates to different locations?
When placing manually, only one location can be specified. If you need to use different locations you can either run the tool several times or use a placement strategy. Have in mind that you can only choose a single strategy for the move operation. This means you must have created a placement strategy that applies to all of the types of plates you are trying to move.
Once all plates have been assigned locations, the 'Submit' button will become enabled. If the plates have already been placed in a location, it will confirm you want to move it. After submitting, the tool will update the location of our plates and create a placement list (a data table sumarizing the movements we just made).
Now, all of our plates will show their new location on the displayed information.
