For large-scale projects, long-term research, or collaborations with large teams, traditional paper notebooks may fail to manage the huge amounts of data generated in lab workflows. TeselaGen’s software includes an Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN), a tool that allows you to meticulously plan your experiments and integrate them with your DNA Assemblies and workflow management system.
General View of the ELN
To access your ELN, click on the three bars on the left upper side of the landing page. Then, click on "Notebook".
There, you will see a left panel with the entries you have created and archived. To create a new one, click on the “Create New Entry” option or click the “plus (+)” icon located on the upper part of the left panel. When working with your ELN, you can open several entries at the same time, and you will see them as different tabs on the upper part of your entry:
Creating and Importing Entries
To create a new entry, click on the "New (+)" button and give a name to your blank entry, or submit a .zip or .json file. Now, let's see how to work with an ELN entry.
Blocks
When writing your entries, you can use different types of blocks by writing [slash] “/” and selecting from the available options:
Notice the "plus" icon on the left side of the Heading in the example below. This icon has the same function as the slash to see the different types of blocks. The icon next to it allows you to move and rearrange your blocks.
You can include different data in your ELN entry, including embedded articles and code blocks.
Referencing Entries
Use the [at] "@" symbol to include entries from your libraries into your ELN. When typing it, you will be asked to type the name of the entry you want to reference:
Once you type the name, the window will display a list of the matching entries on your sequences, plates, worklists, etc.
Select the one you want to include and it will appear on the page (this view is interactive so you can go to the registry, locations, select samples, etc.)
You can add things from your inventory or abstract materials such as DNA sequences or even designs!
Text Format
You can edit the format of the text by changing the style or using bolds, italics, underlined, or strike. You can also change the alineation, change the color of the text, and add hyperlinks.
